Chatra: A 28-year-old man was crushed to death under a soil-laden tractor in Lowagara village in the district on Monday evening, police said. The deceased was identified as Manish Kumar.The accident occurred when Manish was taking the tractor loaded with soil to his field for levelling work. Witnesses said he was preparing to unload the soil when the tractor suddenly tipped on one side and its engine lifted from the front, trapping him underneath.“The accident took place so suddenly that he did not get any chance to react,” a witness said adding that Manish sustained grievous injuries to his head and body. Family members rushed him to Chatra Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Sadar police station officer in-charge Awadhesh Kumar Singh, “After the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. We are awaiting a written complaint from the family members for initiating further legal action,” he said.Soon after the incident, Chatra MLA Janardan Paswan visited the village and met the bereaved family, assuring them of all possible assistance.
