Rajkot: A man named Manoj Rathod filed a complaint at Metoda GIDC police station in Rajkot district, alleging that he was cheated in a real estate deal eight years ago. He lodged a complaint for criminal breach of trust against Umesh Vaghela, Nilesh Lunagariya, Shreyansh Bhanderi, Brijesh Patel, Anish Mehta, Jignesh Patel and Haresh Sojitra.According to Rathod, Umesh Vaghela — a real estate broker — in 2017 persuaded him to invest in a flat in Purva Heights, an under-construction building at Mota Vada village of Lodhika taluka. Vaghela assured him that the building would be complete in two years. He also helped Rathod get Rs 16 lakh from a finance company.Rathod signed a sale agreement at the sub-registrar’s office, which listed Purva Infrastructure partners as the sellers. After paying three loan instalments, construction came to a halt. Repeated attempts to contact Vaghela and the others involved failed. With the flat still incomplete, Rathod stopped his loan payments, leading to mounting bank notices and unpaid dues.As Rathod has not yet received possession of the flat and no progress has been made on the building, he registered a police complaint for cheating.
