Mangaluru: A tense situation prevailed near Mukve in Puttur after a man allegedly brandished a sword in public, causing fear among residents. Police registered two separate cases in connection with the incident and launched an investigation.According to the complaint, on Friday night, the complainant, Mohammed Sirajuddin, a resident of Narimogaru, Puttur, was near Mukve mosque when the accused, Abdul Rahiman, also from Narimogaru, picked up a fight over a dispute that occurred earlier that evening. After the argument, the accused left the spot.Later, when the complainant was returning home, he saw Abdul Rahiman allegedly displaying a sword in a threatening manner, creating fear among people with the apparent intention of harming someone. Based on the complaint, Puttur town police registered a case under sections 109 and 351 of BNS, along with sections 3, 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and initiated an investigation.Meanwhile, local residents at the spot allegedly assaulted Abdul Rahiman. He sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the district Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. Police said he is out of danger.Abdul Rahiman filed a counter complaint and told police that while he was standing near Mukve junction, when unidentified people attacked him from behind, leaving him unconscious. A case was registered at Puttur town police station under sections 118 (1), 126 (2) read with section 3 (5) of the BNS.
