Mumbai: Kurar police have registered an FIR against a 37-year-old man after he allegedly raped a woman, filmed the offence and blackmailed her into giving him cash and jewellery. The accused is on the run. Police said he has a prior criminal history of five to six cases.The 32-year-old woman was acquainted with the accused. Police said that before 2024, the accused had filmed her while she was taking a bath. He then threatened to circulate the video. The woman approached the police station in 2024 and lodged a complaint of molestation against him.Thereafter to get back at her, the accused framed her husband in a case of phone theft and lodged a police complaint against her husband. He threatened the woman that her husband would fall into trouble even further if she refused to comply with his demands.He summoned her at Malad East where she was allegedly raped. He also filmed the offence and started to blackmail her into paying up. He threatened to circulate the video if she did not.The woman paid up cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh. Recently, her husband found out that she was taking various amounts of money from the household. He quizzed her why she needed the money. After she confided in her husband, he approached the Kurar police station where a case of rape was registered against the accused.
