Mangaluru: Kankanady Town police have arrested a man for posting a provocative and inflammatory comment during a live-streamed event. The accused is Ganesh Prasad,41, from Manjeshwar in Kasaragod district.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that in Jan 2026, during the live streaming of a Quran recitation competition held at a convention centre in Mangaluru on a Kannada daily Facebook page, the accused posted a provocative comment.Based on this, a case was registered at Kankanady Town police station under Section 196 of the BNS and Section 66 of the IT Act, and an investigation was taken up.During the course of the investigation, it was found that the person who posted the communal hate comment from the Facebook account named Ganesh Prasad was identified. The accused was arrested by Kankanady Town police on Friday, and has been remanded in judicial custody.
