Dhanbad: A male spotted deer was found dead near the Tundi forest area on the Dhanbad-Tundi road in the district on Sunday morning.According to villagers, the deer was crossing the road when a speeding car rammed into it, leaving the animal critically injured. The vehicle reportedly stopped briefly after the accident, but the driver and another occupant fled the spot abandoning the car which bore a Bihar registration number. Locals attempted to nab the accused but were unsuccessful.The villagers informed the forest department, following which officials reached the scene and transported the injured deer to a nearby veterinary hospital. In the absence of a doctor at the time, timely treatment could not be provided, and by the time the doctor arrived, the deer died.The divisional forest officer of Dhanbad, Vikash Paliwal confirmed that the vehicle involved in the accident has been seized and a case has been registered. “An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those responsible,” he said.On March 8, a female spotted deer was found dead near Upper Bazar in Chirkunda under the Maithon region, also suspected to have been killed in a road accident.
