Jaipur: The Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for Jaipur, prepared by JDA and RITES, proposes converting all major roads inside Walled City to one-way traffic routes.“This aims to streamline vehicular movement by reducing conflict points at intersections, improving junction capacity, and enabling better allocation of road space for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles,” an official said.
The plan also recommends circular traffic movement on congested stretches, including the road beside the Gandhi Nagar railway station and the stretch between Khasha Kothi Circle to Chandpole Gate on Station Road. In addition, the CMP has demarcated 25 junctions that see traffic congestion. The CMP has recommended a SCOOT-based traffic management system for these.“SCOOT is a real time traffic responsive computer model that receives live vehicle presence measurements from detectors on-street. With this data, the technology automatically adjusts the traffic signal timings,” another official added.
