Ludhiana: Tibba police booked a woman and her acquaintances under charges of abetment to suicide after the woman’s husband, 36, allegedly committed suicide. The man had consumed some poisonous substance on April 8. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital where he died on Saturday. Those who have been booked are the deceased’s wife, and her aides, residents of Rishi Nagar, Tibba Road and Jamalpur. The police registered a case on the complaint of the mother of the deceased man.The deceased’s mother said that her son got married to the woman on August 28, 2016. The couple has three children from the marriage. She added that his wife would often fight with Pradeep over petty issues. The couple had a fight a few days ago, after which the wife went to her parental home. Later on, the complainant’s son tried to resolve the matter to bring her back home; however, his wife and the other accused abused him and insulted him. Upset with this, he consumed some poisonous substance and died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. ASI Kamaljeet Singh, the investigating officer from Tibba Road, said that the police registered a case under sections 108 (abetment to suicide) and 3(5) (act by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the BNS against the accused, who are yet to be arrested. The police are now conducting raids to nab the individuals named in the complaint to further the investigation into the circumstances that led to the victim taking the extreme step. Local authorities have urged the family to maintain peace as the legal process unfolds against the mentioned parties.
