Ludhiana: Taking stern action against illegal constructions, the building branch of Municipal Corporation (MC) demolished an under-construction illegal colony in Peeru Banda area on Friday. Sources meanwhile revealed that officials faced resentment and political pressure, and they had to stop the drive in between. The officials dismantled the under-construction roads and other civic amenities-related works.Further, action was also taken against seven under-construction illegal buildings in different areas falling under Zone C, including Eastman Chowk, Jaspal Bangar and Daba Road. The action against illegal constructions was taken on the directions of MC Commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta and Joint Commissioner Deepjot Kaur. Of the total seven illegal buildings demolished in Zone C areas, four buildings were commercial, while three were industrial constructions.Speaking of the action against the illegal colony, the building branch officials of MC Zone A shared that the civic body took action against the illegal construction in the past too. The owner again commenced construction at the site, following which action was taken on Friday.Meanwhile, the building branch officials appealed to the residents that they should commence the construction works only after getting the building plans approved from the civic body; otherwise, strict action would be taken against illegal constructions.
