Ludhiana: The Medium Senior Vice Industry (MSVI) announced on Tuesday that the state government is set to fulfil a long-standing public demand by constructing a memorial, community center, and museum dedicated to poet and film lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. Sharanpal Singh Makkar, MSVI chairman shared this during his address as chief guest at an event organised for destitute elderly.Makkar stated that after extensive efforts, all obstacles regarding the project have been cleared. Tenders will soon be floated for the construction of these facilities on Pakhowal Road. While an AAP leader in Ludhiana confirmed that the demand for infrastructure named after the legendary poet has been raised before the CM, they added that a final solid response from the state government is still awaited.The event was inaugurated by Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi, while a free homeopathic medical camp held on the occasion was presided over by Ludhiana Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur. Renowned poets, including Mohammad Ashfaq Jigar, Naeem Chikrajamali Bijnor, Ashok Rahi, Kanika Sahi, and Gurpreet Flora, entertained the audience with their compositions.Local poetry lover Narinder Singh remarked that Sahir, as one of the greatest poets, deserves a major memorial in his home city. He noted that a museum and community center would serve as a befitting tribute to his legacy.
