Nagpur: A suspected love triangle turned violent in the heart of the city when a 21-year-old college student was attacked with a cutter-like weapon, causing serious injuries on his face and neck.The incident took place on Saturday 2 around 5.30pm near Meshram Putla in Sadar area. According to the FIR lodged at Sadar police station, the victim, Monish Raja Sheikh (21), a resident of WCL Colony, Chandrapur, and currently staying on rent in Taj Nagar, was allegedly lured to the spot by a phone call from the main accused, Ayan Khan (23), of Mominpura.
Police sources said that Ayan suspected his girlfriend and Monish a romantic affair between them because they study in the same college and are classmates.Ayan, accompanied by two accomplices identified as Mubasir and Farhan, confronted Monish and attacked him. Monish was rushed to a private hospital, where he is receiving treatment for multiple deep cuts and is stated to be out of danger.Sadar police station was informed about the incident on Sunday. A case was registered under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempt to murder in the evening.A search operation is underway to nab Ayan and his two associates. Police have intensified patrolling in Mominpura and surrounding areas while collecting CCTV footage and witness statements.
