Ranchi: The National Lok Adalat (NLA) held across the state on Saturday disposed of 1,66,384 pending cases, 22,59,352 pre-litigation cases and settled amounts totalling Rs 2,813.97 crore, stated Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Jhalsa).It added that a record was set in terms of disposal of both pending and pre-litigation cases. Jharkhand high court judge and executive chairman of Jhalsa, Justice S N Prasad, inaugurated the Lok Adalats from Jamshedpur in virtual mode. As many as 300 benches were constituted across the state for taking up disputes and compoundable criminal offences including cheque bounce, power theft, excise cases, forest and weight and measures, marital disputes and various civil matters. As many as 11 pending cases were disposed of in the Lok Adalat held in the HC. District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, said that 46,882 pending cases and 7,48,050 pre-litigation cases were disposed of in the Lok Adalat held in the civil court.Among the pending cases was of a couple in the family court. The husband had filed a case for reunion with his wife. After mediation by DLSA advocates, the couple, who has two children, agreed to live together.
