Jamshedpur: Residents of the ward number 23 of Adityapur Municipal Corporation (AMC) protested outside the civic body’s office on Monday over persistent waterlogging in their area and the potholed roads, which are leading to road accidents. On Saturday, residents of ward number 6 staged a demonstration at the block office in Gamharia. Locals claimed irregular cleaning of clogged drains was leading to waterlogging within the AMC limits but the civic body was reluctant to take up cleaning measures.“Due to the irregular cleaning of the clogged drains water in several colonies isn’t draining out swiftly due ,” said LIG colony resident Prem Kumar. AMC administrator Ravi Prakash said however claimed that cleaning of the drains is being done regularly. “Even prior to the onset of the monsoon the clogged drains were cleaned. Due to the incessant rains over the last some days complaints of clogging have come from several places which are being attended to,” he said.
