Jhansi: An eight-year-old girl lost her life, while another 14-year-old girl and four more individuals from another part of the district sustained serious injuries after being struck by lightning here on Wednesday evening. In a separate incident, 16 goats were also reportedly killed in another part of the district due to lightning.The incidents took place following a sudden change in the weather, which brought heavy rains accompanied by lightning for about two hours. Both girls, Priti, aged 8, and Archana, aged 14, went to graze goats in village Nari under the Chirgaon area of the district. Priti died on the spot, while Archana sustained serious injuries and was taken to Jhansi Medical College, where she is currently receiving treatment. SDM Moth Avnish Tiwari, along with police personnel from Chirgaon police station, reached the location to provide assistance and assured compensation as per the prescribed norms.Elsewhere, 16 goats lost their lives in village Bijna after being struck by lightning. Additionally, four more people from village Nauta had to be admitted to Jhansi Medical College after sustaining injuries from the lightning. TNN
