Srinagar, Mar 16: Shab-e-Qadr or Laylat-ul-Qadr – the night that marks the revelation of the first verses of the holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was observed across Jammu & Kashmir.
Worshippers across Kashmir thronged the Masjids and shrines to observe the Shab-e-Qadr, with the largest gathering witnessed at Dargah Hazratbal Shrine, where thousands of devotees offered night-long prayers.
The picturesque Dargah Hazratbal shrine reverberated with the echoes of special prayers, Durood-o-Azkaar and Naat Khawani throughout the night.
Shab-e-Qadar is observed on the 27th of Ramadan and is considered a night of blessings. It holds immense significance, and Muslims across the world engage in night-long prayers and other religious gatherings until dawn. The night holds special importance to Muslims across the world as the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during this night.
People from different parts of the Valley gathered at the historic Hazratbal shrine, where men, women, and children prayed for peace and prosperity.
The congregational night-long prayers were also held at Khanqah-e-Maula here, where the devotees thronged to participate in the special night-long prayers.
The other shrines and Masjids falling under the jurisdiction of Waqf Board, including Dastgeer Sahab (RA) Shrine Khanyar, Makhdoom Sahab (RA) Shrine, Jenab Sahab Soura and Syed Yaqoob Sahab Sonwar in Srinagar; Asar-e-Shareef Kaba Marg and Zain-ud-din Wali Ashmuqam in Anantnag; Baba Payam-ud-din Baba Reshi in Baramulla; Aham Sharief in Bandipora; Noor-ud-din Noorani (RA) Shrine Charar-e-Sharif, Syed Ali Barkhi Pakharpora in Budgam; Newa Pulwama, Syed Mahad Baba Reshi Pulwama, Ziyarat e Aalia Qaimoh Kulgam, Central Jamia Masjid Jadeed Handwara and Central Jamia Masjid Shareef Gund Sonamarg also witnessed a massive participation of the worshippers.
Moreover, Patron of Faizan-e-Mustafa, Moulana Adil Noorani, who led special night-long prayers at Masjid-e-Abur Turaab (RA) at Qamarwari here, said that the night has been gifted to the Muslims. “We prayed for peace, prosperity and sought forgiveness and mercy from the Almighty,” he said.
Meanwhile, the authorities had made special arrangements to manage the large influx of devotees, while security personnel were deployed to regulate the movement of worshippers.
Elaborate arrangements were also put in place to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles carrying devotees from North, South and Central Kashmir to the revered Dargah Hazratbal shrine. Traffic authorities had designated specific routes for vehicles coming from different districts to avoid congestion and facilitate orderly movement.
Additionally, the worshippers expressed their spiritual aspirations, seeking divine mercy. “This is a day when prayers are accepted. I prayed for the well-being of Kashmir and peace across the world,” said a devotee from Srinagar, who was seen crying at the Hazratbal shrine.
