Lucknow: A lawyer suffered gunshot injury in an alleged attempt of kidnapping in the Kotwali Nagar area of Barabanki on Friday evening.. The lawyer, Chandresh Verma (45) was shot at in the abdomen, and was admitted to a local hospital. He was later referred to KGMU in Lucknow where his condition is being monitored.According to police, the incident took place around 8.30pm when the victim went to an open area and some individuals allegedly attempted to abduct him, and when their attempt failed, they opened fire.The victim, in a statement to the police, said that the accused were involved in a long-standing land dispute with his family, and his father was murdered in 1997 over the dispute.Barabanki ASP Vikas Tripathi said that prima facie it was a case of a property dispute within the family. “The kin of Chandresh accused their uncle of planning the attack. As soon as we get a formal complaint, we will lodge an FIR,” said Tripathi.
