Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday alleged that law and order in the state has hit a new low, and listed the murders reported over the past two days in Hosur, Chennai and Tenkasi districts. He posted on X that DMK govt was “counting its last days” and that AIADMK-led front would dethrone the ruling party in the upcoming assembly elections. Citing reports, EPS said an elderly man was murdered and his wife was sexually assaulted in Uthangarai near Krishnagiri. In Chennai, two people were murdered in Tirusulam, and a farmer was killed in Sankarankovil in Tenkasi, he added. “The chief minister, who is responsible for maintaining law and order, has never spoken about the incidents,” he alleged, adding that murders are not happening in isolated places; they are occurring everywhere and all the time. He also posted against the alleged arrest of farmers from Sulagiri and Hosur in Krishnagiri when they went to Anna Arivalayam, DMK’s headquarters in the city, to submit a petition opposing the govt’s move to acquire farmland for govt projects. Meanwhile, former chief minister O Panneerselvam’s supporter Kolathur D Krishnamurthi, who recently rejoined AIADMK, brought a large number of his supporters to be re-inducted into the party in EPS’s presence in the city on Monday.
