Bengaluru: Three-year-old twin girls were rescued by city police after they accidentally locked themselves inside a bedroom at their house in Ramamurthy Nagar late on Friday.According to police, the children’s parents, both working professionals, called the emergency control room (112) around 11.20pm after realising their daughters had locked themselves inside a room. The couple had been watching television while the twins were playing in the bedroom. During play, the girls operated the multi-point locking system on the door and accidentally locked it from inside.Soon after, the children began crying. The parents tried to calm them down and explain how to unlock the door, but the girls were unable to follow their instructions.Neighbours who heard the commotion gathered at the house and attempted to pacify the children from outside the door. Some suggested breaking it open, but the family did not have the tools to do so. A window outside the room also proved unhelpful because it had iron grills.“We dialled 112, and in less than 10 minutes, a Hoysala vehicle arrived at the spot. They walked into the house and examined the door,” the parents said.Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurumurthy and head constable Vekantesh spoke to the children and tried to reassure them. “They were both crying. Using an iron rod and other materials, we pried open the door and broke the lock. The girls stood near the bed and cried. We asked their mother to console them,” Gurumurthy said.
