Mysuru: Union minister for heavy industries and steel HD Kumaraswamy visited Hullahalli village near Nanjangud Friday after a video highlighting the condition of a seriously ill young woman went viral on social media.The minister met 24-year-old Pooja, who has been bedridden for several months following multiple surgeries that led to severe spinal complications. The video was shared online by a local youth, Chetan, who appealed to the public to circulate it until it reached the Union minister. After watching the clip, Kumaraswamy visited the family’s rented house to assess their situation and offer support.Pooja’s family has been facing financial hardship. Her husband, Ravi, is unable to work after sustaining injuries in a bus accident involving KSRTC. The family has reportedly sold their house and agricultural land to meet medical expenses.During the visit, Kumaraswamy consoled the family and assured immediate assistance. He spoke to the KSRTC managing director and urged that compensation related to Ravi’s accident be expedited through a Lok Adalat settlement. He also contacted the family’s landlord and said he would personally pay the lease amount to prevent eviction.For longer-term support, the minister instructed the Nanjangud tahsildar to help arrange a small shop for the family and directed local representatives to monitor Pooja’s treatment and her children’s education.
