Kalaburagi: A KKRTC driver was assaulted by a youth for not giving way near Beeri Tanda, near Bhalki in Bidar district, on Wednesday morning. The bus driver, Chandrashekhar, was assaulted by the unknown youth.Later, the youth was identified as Vishal, a resident of Beeri Tanda. The youth was on his bike and alleged that the bus driver did not give him way to go forward. This led the youth to assault the driver in front of a number of passengers. The passengers tried to stop the youth, but he did not stop.
When the bus driver did not give way, the youth called his villagers who lived nearby and told them to stop the bus, which they did at Beeri Tanda. When the bus stopped on the outskirts of Bhalki town at Beeri Tanda, the youth got on the bus and started thrashing the driver black and blue.Later, passengers tried to stop him, and all got down from the bus. After getting down from the bus, the youth again started thrashing the driver. The driver’s condition became worse, and his uniform was torn by the youth. The driver, Chandrashekhar, filed a complaint against the assailant at Bhalki Rural police station.Speaking to TOI, KKRTC Bidar divisional controller Rajendra Jadhav told TOI that the driver, Chandrashekhar, was admitted to Gurunanak Hospital in Bidar and was safe.
