Thiruvananthapuram: A statewide campaign will be launched on Wednesday, combining FIFA World Cup celebrations with anti-drug awareness activities for school students.Titled as “1 Million Toofan Goals @ World Cup 2026”, the campaign is an initiative integrating education, sports, technology, environmental awareness and anti-drug initiatives among school students across the state, according to a statement issued by the office of general education minister N Samsudheen on Tuesday.The campaign, aimed at students from Classes I to XII, is being organised in connection with the FIFA World Cup 2026 celebrations and will also promote home department’s anti-drug programme, ‘Operation Toofan’.As part of the initiative, students from schools across Kerala will take up a special challenge to score one million goals, symbolising a collective stand against drug abuse, it said.The state-level inauguration of the campaign will be jointly performed by Shamsudheen and home minister Ramesh Chennithala at a turf in Ambalamukku on Wednesday morning.On the occasion, the minister will also launch a dashboard developed by KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education) to track the progress of the 10 lakh-goal challenge.The campaign will run from Wednesday until the conclusion of the World Cup, with school students participating in football-related activities alongside anti-drug awareness programmes, the statement said.
