T’puram: Water resources minister Roshy Augustine announced that concessions on drinking water charges will be granted to institutions such as orphanages, old age homes, and mental health rehabilitation centres, as well as homes where persons with disabilities reside. The decision to offer concessions in water charges for these underprivileged groups was made with social responsibility in mind. The order will provide relief to families with members who have 40% or more autism, families with members who have 40% or more physical disabilities, orphanages registered under Orphanage Control Board offering free services, old age homes, and mental health rehabilitation centres. The govt aims to provide these concessions while overcoming the financial burdens faced by the authority in delivering water to the economically disadvantaged and those facing physical and mental challenges, the minister stated.
