Varanasi: The cultural and historical legacy of Kashi is set for a major upgrade, as new technology in light and sound systems will soon enhance its timeless charm. Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Stamp and Court Registration Fees (Independent Charge), Ravindra Jaiswal, has announced plans to preserve and promote the heritage of Kashi using modern tools. Jaiswal said that detailed work plans are being prepared to introduce advanced light and sound systems at iconic sites such as the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and LT College in Ardali Bazaar, a location tied to the memory of Swami Vivekananda.The minister recently convened a high-level meeting with divisional commissioner S Rajalingam, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar, Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) vice-chairman Pulkit Garg, municipal commissioner Akshat Verma, and senior officials from relevant departments to discuss steps for conserving the city’s spiritual and cultural treasures.A major part of the initiative will involve setting up a dedicated hall to display historical and cultural artefacts, enabling tourists to gain a complete understanding of Kashi’s rich past. In addition, plans are in place to use innovative lighting and music systems to enhance the city’s aesthetics.Jaiswal also addressed civic concerns raised by local councillors and instructed officials to resolve them without delay. He specifically directed the electricity department to remove all hanging wires and unsafe poles in urban areas, assuring that funds would not be a hurdle. Immediate solutions to electrical issues were also mandated.Efforts to address Varanasi’s traffic congestion were discussed in detail, with the minister outlining steps to improve urban mobility while preserving the city’s historic identity.
