Bengaluru: State Election Commission has extended the deadline for preparing ward-wise electoral rolls for polls to the five city corporations under Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). The final electoral roll will now be published on April 6.After publishing the draft electoral rolls on Jan 19, SEC is said to have found discrepancies in voter details and polling booth numbers during verification of polling station areas and voters mapped ward-wise as per the draft roll.“Following several complaints received from political parties and citizens about the draft electoral roll, it was decided to prepare ward-wise electoral rolls for the five city corporations by adopting the assembly electoral roll currently in force,” an SEC circular stated.According to the new schedule, the revised draft electoral roll will be published on March 9. The period for filing objections and claims is from March 10 to 16. The final electoral roll will be published on April 6. Grievance meetingsGBA chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao will hold public interaction meetings at each of the five city corporations, beginning Thursday, from 2:30pm to 5pm.He will hear grievances related to infrastructure, roads, sanitation, drainage, and other civic issues.
