Bengaluru: The state govt Monday assured Karnataka high court that the contents of the draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as the suggestions of the amicus curiae, were considered by the legislative assembly, which is considering the Karnataka Crowd Control (Managing Crowd at Events and Places of Gathering) Bill, 2025.Advocate general Shashikiran Shetty said the bill was referred to a committee for consultation and its suggestions were also considered. Senior advocate S Susheela, who assisted the court in a suo motu PIL petition registered last year in the aftermath of the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede, submitted that there were some critical gaps in the proposed legislation vis-a-vis the draft SOPs placed before the court. After recording the assurance of the advocate general, a division bench, comprising Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice CM Poonacha, disposed of the petition, reserving liberty to the amicus curiae to seek its revival in case cause arises.
