Mangaluru: MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said he has urged union ministry of road transport and highways to expedite national highway projects in the district.The MP said he met the secretary of the ministry to request faster progress on ongoing works in Dakshina Kannada district.
“I held discussions with Uma Shankar, the secretary of the ministry, regarding the swift implementation of various national highway projects under way in Dakshina Kannada district. During the meeting, I brought to the secretary’s attention the progress of different highway projects in the district and urged that these projects be completed within the stipulated timeframe without any delays,” he said.A key part of the discussion centred on the detailed project report (DPR) for the development of the Shiradi Ghat and Surathkal–BC Road highways. Since these projects are crucial to the district’s connectivity, Chowta stressed the need to accelerate their implementation.He also highlighted the need to review and prioritise development work on the Mani–Sampaje road, which now falls under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja was present at the meeting.
