Sasaram: The Kaimur district was rocked by two separate, chilling incidents of sexual violence involving a gang rape of a woman in Belaon and the repeated exploitation of a nine-year-old girl by a local businessman in the area of Bhabhua town on Tuesday. While police have made swift arrests in one case, a manhunt is underway to nab the perpetrator in the second. In the Belaon police station jurisdiction, a woman visiting her parental home from Rohtas was targeted while working in the fields. On Tuesday morning, while she was harvesting wheat, two men from her own village—reportedly in an intoxicated state—abducted her and took her to a secluded area where they committed gang rape. The survivor’s screams alerted her mother and nearby villagers, but the attackers fled before they could be apprehended. Following an FIR filed by the survivor’s mother, the police acted decisively. SHO Paramhans Kumar confirmed that both suspects were arrested, underwent medical examinations, and have been sent to judicial custody. Aniket Amar, In-charge SDPO of Bhabhua, stated that the department would push for a speedy trial to ensure the maximum penalty for the accused.A second, equally disturbing case emerged from the Town police station area, where a PDS (public distribution system) dealer stands accused of raping a nine-year-old girl. The matter came to light when the child failed to return home after going to fetch milk. Her mother discovered her crying inside the dealer’s locked ration warehouse. The traumatized child revealed that the dealer had been luring her with money and mobile phone content for over a month to commit these acts. He threatened to kill her if she spoke out. When the family confronted the dealer, he allegedly mocked them and issued further threats. SHO Mukesh Kumar confirmed that while the girl’s medical examination is complete, the accused dealer is currently on the run. Police teams are conducting raids across the region to secure his arrest.
