Berhampur: Police have detained a 17-year-old boy and arrested a 23-year-old man over the past two days for allegedly raping two minor girls after kidnapping them in different places in Ganjam district.A Plus II student was detained on Saturday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl after kidnapping from her village on Thursday. The man was arrested in Kerala on Friday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Ganjam on Feb 24, police said.In the juvenile offender case, the survivor was rescued by her parents from the roadside on the same day she was allegedly kidnapped. The girl’s father lodged an FIR on Thursday. “We have registered a case after her father lodged an FIR,” said inspector Dipti Ranjan Behera.“A medical test of the girl was conducted, and her statement was recorded in the presence of a magistrate. As per the direction of the district child welfare committee (CWC), she was handed over to her parents,” he said. “After a two-day search, the juvenile accused was detained,” he added.In the other case, the man was arrested on Friday. After kidnapping her, he took her to Kandhamal and kept a physical relationship with her. On March 4, he allegedly deserted her and went to Kerala to work.On March 6, a case was registered against the accused under different sections of BNS and Pocso Act, when the girl’s father lodged an FIR, police said.SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M said during investigation, police found that the accused was in Kerala and a team rushed there to arrest him.
