Patna: Justice Vipul M Pancholi was on Monday sworn in as the Chief Justice of Patna high court.He was administered the oath of office by governor Arif Mohammed Khan at a ceremony held in Raj Bhavan, attended by several Patna high court judges, state urban development and housing minister Jibesh Kumar, chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena, director general of police Vinay Kumar, advocate general and lawyers among others.Born in Ahmedabad on Oct 28, 1968, Justice Pancholi entered the Bar in Sept 1991 and started practice as an advocate in the Gujarat high court. He served as as assistant government pleader and additional public prosecutor at the Gujarat high court for seven years till March 2006.He was elevated as the additional judge of Gujarat high court on Oct 1, 2014, and confirmed as a permanent judge on June 10, 2016.Justice Pancholi was transferred to the Patna high court and took oath as a judge on July 24, 2023.A Bachelor of Science (electronics) graduate from St Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, he did his Master of Law in commercial group from Sir L A Shah Law College, Ahmedabad, under Gujarat University.He was also a visiting faculty at his alma mater, Sir L A Shah Law College, from Dec 1993 for 21 years.
