Patna: Justice Sudhir Singh took oath as a Judge of the Patna high court on Tuesday. Chief Justice Vipul M Pancholi, who himself sworn in on Monday, administered the oath of office to Justice Sudhir Singh in a ceremony held inside the centenary hall of the Patna HC, in presence of its judges and advocates. Elevated as a judge of Patna HC on April 15, 2015, Justice Singh is known for delivering significant verdicts, especially in criminal matters. On Nov 2, 2023, he was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana high court before being transferred back to his parent HC in Patna. A notification to this regard was issued by the central govt on July 14.Advocate General P K Shahi, senior advocate Krishna Prasad Singh, Ramakant Sharma, president of Bihar State Bar Council and several members of the Bar congratulated Justice Singh on this occasion. Justice Singh is the third-most senior judge in the Patna HC after Justices C J Pancholi and P B Bajanthri. Nevertheless, even with Justice Singh, the total number of judges in the Patna HC remains at a low figure of 36 against its sanctioned strength of 53.
