Actor Janhvi Kapoor has spoken up about the perils of alcohol addiction at a recent event where she lent her support to an initiative designed to shift the public conversation around alcohol addiction from silence and judgment to clinical understanding, self-awareness, and access to care.
Janhvi Kapoor on alcohol addiction
Speaking at the launch of Off The Rocks, Janhvi said she has observed that as alcohol has become more and more normalised in social life, very little awareness exists around the point at which social drinking becomes a clinical concern. The actor said, “The conversation around alcohol is either completely absent or deeply judgmental — and neither serves the people who actually need support. Alcohol addiction is real, it’s clinical, and it affects people across every walk of life. The initiative is about making it easier to acknowledge that, and to know that help exists.” The actor spoke about how alcohol addiction is often seen as a moral failing, which it isn’t, and is never considered a mental health issue that needs treatment and intervention.
For Off The Rocks, Janhvi partnered with Amaha, a full-spectrum mental health organisation.
Janhvi’s upcoming work
On the professional front, Janhvi was recently seen in the romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan, co-starring Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf. The 2025 release was a moderate box-office success, earning ₹100 crore worldwide on a ₹80-crore production budget. The film also trended nationally after its streaming release on Netflix later in the year.
Next up, Janhvi is slated to appear in the upcoming Telugu film Peddi opposite Ram Charan, set for release on 30 April 2026. The film marks Janhvi’s second pan-India venture after last year’s Devara, which starred Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
