Jamshedpur: Steel City police on Wednesday arrested seven alleged members of a contract killers’ gang and recovered firearms and other incriminating materials from their possession.Revealing details at a press briefing on Thursday, SP (City) Kumar Shivashish said a police team led by deputy SP (city) Sunil Chaudhary conducted a raid at a house under Golmuri police station limits following a tip-off about criminals assembling there to plan a major crime.
As the police team reached the spot, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief chase. During interrogation, it was found that the seven arrested individuals were allegedly part of a contract killing gang.Police recovered one country-made pistol loaded with three live cartridges, four additional live bullets, a dagger, and a sharp knife.An SUV and Rs 22,000 in cash were also seized.All the accused, aged between 19 and 32 years, are residents of various police station areas in Jamshedpur and adjoining Seraikela town.
