Rajkot: An FIR was registered at B Division police station in Jamnagar on Monday against a man for allegedly creating and circulating a viral video containing abusive language and corruption allegations against officials of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC).The complaint was lodged by Anwar Gajjan, 42, in-charge security officer at JMC, who also holds additional charge as fire station officer and encroachment removal officer. The accused was identified as Jaydeepsinh alias Jabbho alias Mahakal Jhala. According to the FIR, Gajjan came across a 1-minute-47-second video circulating on WhatsApp and Instagram. In the video, Jhala, claiming to be the president of “Mahakal Sena”, allegedly uses abusive language and makes unsubstantiated allegations against JMC officials and employee unions, accusing them of corruption and dereliction of duty.Gajjan stated that the allegations were false and aimed to tarnish the image of the govt and civic body. He alleged that the video sought to create mistrust, fear and anxiety among the public by falsely claiming that municipal staff were neglecting their duties.The FIR further stated that the video’s circulation created an atmosphere of suspicion among citizens and caused distress to municipal employees. Residents began questioning JMC staff during fieldwork in areas such as Gandhinagar, Machhrnagar and near the railway station.Following discussions with senior officials, the civic body decided to initiate legal action over the viral video.He has been booked under Sections 356(2), 353(2) and 353(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
