Ritik’s elder brother, Rishabh, was equally active, committing similar offences, said senior crime branch inspector Mahesh Sagade, who made the latest breakthrough under the supervision of DCP (crime) Rahul Maknikar and Addl CP (crime) Vasant Pardeshi.In September 2025, Hudkeshwar police arrested the siblings and recovered 50 stolen two-wheelers valued in lakhs. In November 2025, another operation led to the seizure of 13 vehicles worth Rs6.5 lakh after the brothers confessed to 12 thefts. Every time they secured bail, the brothers returned to the streets to continue with their criminal acts, said police.Investigators suspect the brothers allegedly steal vehicles primarily to fund their substance addiction.Even as the crime branch continued aggressive action and kept adding to the ever-growing list of cases and recoveries, the Asopa brothers’ jail-bail-theft cycle rolled on, said a top cop.
