Bhubaneswar: Over 1.02 crore women will receive a total of Rs 5,000 crore under the fourth instalment of the state’s flagship Subhadra Yojana on March 8, the International Women’s Day, announced deputy CM Pravati Parida here on Saturday.Under the Subhadra Yojana, launched in the state by PM Narendra Modi in 2024, women in the age group of 21-60 years receive Rs 50,000 each over a five-year period.Parida, who is also the women and child development minister, said the fourth instalment of the Subhadra scheme money will be released in Puri by CM Mohan Charan Majhi.The women and child development department received over 1.12 crore applications for the Subhadra Yojana so far, even as the fourth instalment will be disbursed among 1.02 crore beneficiaries.The deputy CM said that around 2.13 lakh new beneficiaries, including the ‘Yuva Subhadra’ beneficiaries — women who turned 21 — were included in this cycle. This also includes 36,385 women whose names were included through the grievance redressal mechanism. While this is the fourth instalment under the Subhadra Yojana, it is the second instalment cycle for the new beneficiaries who were included in the scheme after they turned 21.Every year, the Subhadra scheme beneficiary list will keep changing with the addition of girls who turn 21 and removal of the names of women who turn 60, she said. “Every year, women turning 21 years of age will be registered under the scheme, while those reaching 60 years will be shifted to the state’s pension scheme. This is a continuous annual process,” she said.As part of the department’s International Women’s Day celebration in Puri, awards will also be presented to the women who achieved notable feats in women and child development.
