Bhubaneswar: More than 30 trains originating and terminating at Puri railway station, including Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Puri Express and Sealdah-Puri Duronto Express, will be short-terminated or short-originated from March 11 to May 16 due to an ongoing infrastructure upgradation work. It will affect passenger services between Khurda Road and Puri stations. The railways is also likely to cancel several trains in the coming days to speed up the Puri station work.“In a major move to enhance passenger amenities and operational efficiency, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) is executing ballastless track construction in the station yard and development of platforms 7 and 8,” said an official statement.The railways has set a target to complete the work before Rath Yatra in Puri.An ECoR spokesperson said the services of several trains will be temporarily short-terminated or short-originated from March 11 to May 16 to facilitate these essential works.Eight trains, including Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Puri Express, Gandhidham-Puri Express, Kamakhya-Puri Express, Tirupati-Puri Express, Sealdah-Puri Duronto Express, Valsad-Puri Express and Sambalpur-Puri Intercity Express, will originate from and terminate at Sakhigopal station, instead of Puri.Similarly, four trains — Indore-Puri Express, Sri Ganganagar-Puri Express, Kamakhya-Puri Express and Jaleswar-Puri MEMU — will originate from and terminate at Bir Purushottampur station.Four other trains, including Rourkela-Puri Express and Talcher-Puri MEMU, will originate from and terminate at Khurda Road station, while Howrah-Puri Express and Puri-Howrah Express will be short-terminated at Malatipatpur station.During this period, ECoR official sources said, bus services will be arranged between the short-terminated or short-originated stations and Puri for the convenience of passengers. “Passengers are advised to check the latest status of trains through NTES or railway enquiry before commencing their journey,” said the official statement.
