Bengaluru: Motorists are advised to avoid CV Raman Road Saturday as Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will host its Open Day programme from 9am to 6pm. The event is open to the public, college students in particular.A large turnout is expected along with 150 to 200 buses, 650 to 700 cars and 60,000 to 80,000 two-wheelers. Traffic police advised visitors to use public transport as far as possible to minimise rush.School buses and four-wheelers have been told to park inside Palace Grounds at Krishna Vihar gate no. 1. Shuttle buses arranged by IISc will ferry visitors from the parking area to the venue. Two-wheelers should be parked inside IISc Gymkhana Ground, traffic police said.Motorists travelling towards Ballari Road from Yeshwantpur and those heading towards Yeshwantpur from Ballari Road have been requested to avoid CV Raman Road and use alternative routes.Traffic curbs for road-safety eventThe transport department, in association with police and department of youth empowerment and sports, is organising an awareness programme on road safety — 5K Safe-A-Thon — Saturday. The programme will feature a bike rally, cycle rally, walkathon and marathon. Movement of all vehicles on Kasturba Road will be prohibited from 7am to 10am. The programme will begin and end at Kanteerava Stadium, passing through Siddalingaiah Junction, Queen’s Circle, CTO Junction, Police Thimmaiah Junction, in front of Vidhana Soudha, Gopalagowda Circle, KR Circle, Police Corner, Hudson Circle and Kasturba Road.No-parking zones are Kasturba Road, Vittal Mallya Road, KG Road, NR Road, Nrupathunga Road and Sheshadri Road.
