Jind: A citizens’ group in Haryana’s Jind, Samajik Sadbhavana Manch, on Tuesday organised an Iftar along with Holi celebrations at the town’s Qila Wali Masjid, as part of spreading the message of communal unity.The convener of the organisation, Ramphal Dahiya, said India is a secular democratic republic, and its greatest beauty lay in its unity in diversity. He claimed that safeguarding the secular fabric of the nation was the collective responsibility of all citizens.Rishipal Sihag, sarpanch of Haibatpur village and district Congress president, said people from all communities equally contributed to India’s freedom struggle. “In daily life, we are incomplete without one another, and national development is possible only when we work together to build society collectively,” he added.Former public relations officer Surender Verma said keeping the country’s social fabric intact was important and it included people from all walks of life, be it traders, weavers, teachers or sanitation workers.
