Hyderabad: Pawan Khera, chairperson of AICC media and publicity department, has moved Telangana high court seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered by Guwahati police over his allegations against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma. The petition is scheduled to come up for hearing before Justice K Sujana on Thursday.Khera was booked by Guwahati crime branch under various sections of BNS on charges including providing false information, forgery, cheating, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy. In his petition filed on April 7, Khera (58), stated that he is a resident of Banjara Hills in Hyderabad, and sought anticipatory bail contending he has not been furnished with a copy of the FIR and that the allegations did not constitute a valid case against him.At a recent press conference in Delhi, Khera had claimed that Himanta’s wife holds multiple foreign passports and also has properties in other countries, which the Assam CM had not declared in his election affidavit. An Assam Police team visited his Delhi residence for questioning in connection with the case, but he was reported to be in Hyderabad. It is learnt that Assam cops have arrived in Hyderabad and sought the help of their Telangana counterparts in tracing Khera.Telangana Police have not disclosed Khera’s whereabouts. However, at his residence in Banjara Hills, cops have been deployed since Tuesday and barricades have also been put up. Since Wednesday morning, neither Khera nor his family members are reported to be staying in the house, but the security personnel continue to be there.
