Chatra: An illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) manufacturing and bottling unit operating under the garb of a poultry farm located at Bihdiyataand forest area on the fringes of Nawaan village was busted on Friday. A total of 548 bottles of illegal liquor of various brands were seized, police said.SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal said, “Acting on a tip-off, the team led by Itkhori SHO Abhishek Singh and ASI Videsh Pandey, raided the illegal factory allegedly operated by Vinod Dangi and his associates, including Munna Dangi, Bhuvneshwar Dangi alias Nagmani Dangi, and Abhay Singh — all residents of Madhopur village under Itkhori police station. The accused were using the garb of a poultry farm as a safe hideout to manufacture and store spurious liquor, which was allegedly meant to be smuggled into neighbouring Bihar.”Around 25 litres of spirit stored in a jar, empty drums fitted with taps, nearly 70 empty glass bottles, hundreds of caps of different brands, fake stickers, including MRP labels, a chemical-filled bottle, and a sealing machine used for packaging were also confiscated, police added.“The recovery indicates an organised racket. We suspect the involvement of a larger network, which is being probed. Raids are under way to trace and arrest the absconding accused and identify other members of the syndicate. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Excise Act,” the SP added.
