Bhubaneswar: Utkal University on Thursday made it mandatory for students to carry their ID cards to enter the campus, and help keep outsiders at bay.The university issued a notification stating that security personnel on the campus were authorised to check the ID cards of students during their entry and exit from the campus, and at any other given point in time. Police will be informed about any unauthorised entry into the campus, the notice read.
A university official said strict enforcement of student ID card inspection has been rolled out, and steps would be taken to check if outsiders are still entering or staying in any of the hostels. “This step was taken to prevent the entry of outsiders who create nuisance and spoil the university atmosphere,” she said.Besides, the university warned students against unnecessarily loitering on the campus and indulging in any behaviour that is detrimental to the academic atmosphere of the institution. The campus was also designated a zero-tolerance zone for tobacco products, intoxicants and e-cigarettes, and students found violating the same, will face severe disciplinary action.
