Bengaluru: An Indian Air Force officer’s house was burgled while his family was away attending his promotion ceremony in Hyderabad.According to a complaint filed by warrant officer Mruthunjaya Narayan Singh, a resident of Kammagondanahalli and posted at the Air Force Station, Hyderabad, Singh was promoted on April 1. His wife and children had locked the house on the afternoon of March 31 and left for Hyderabad by train to attend the event. On the morning of April 2, neighbours noticed signs of a break-in and informed Singh’s wife.Before leaving, the family had packed their valuables, including gold and silver ornaments, in a box placed under a cot. The family returned to the city the same evening by flight and found both the main door and the bedroom door broken open. Household items were scattered across the rooms, suggesting a thorough search by the intruders.They discovered that gold ornaments—including two lockets, two pairs of earrings, and a chain—along with around 500 grams of silver articles, were missing.A case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house) and 331 (house-trespass or housebreaking).
