Nagpur: Workers engaged in excavation work for Nagpur Metro Phase-II project on Hingna Road unearthed a human skeleton on Thursday.The incident occurred around 11am when labourers, using machines to dig a pit in the middle of the busy road, spotted a human skull and bones buried about 9 feet below ground and immediately alerted the MIDC Police.A police team, led by inspector Sapna Niranjan, along with assistant police inspector Sanjay Bansod, Sub-Inspector Thorat, and staff, rushed to the site. Excavation was halted, and Hingna tehsildar was informed. Naib tehsildar Ashwin Meshram arrived at the spot, and in his presence, the skeletal remains were retrieved.The bones appeared significantly deteriorated, suggesting the remains were quite old. Police officials stated that the skeleton likely dates back several years, and no identifiable items or clothing gave any clues to determine the identity of the deceased or cause of death. The remains were handed over to a forensic team for further examination and analysis.The MIDC police have registered the case as accidental death and are awaiting the forensic report to ascertain more details.
