Shimla: In alignment with the National Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Snakebite Envenoming (NAPSE) launched by the Union ministry of health and family welfare, the Himachal Pradesh govt has declared snakebite a notifiable disease across the state. The move aims to improve monitoring, reporting, and clinical management of snakebite cases. All health facilities, both public and private, including medical colleges, have been directed to comply. Medical practitioners must report every suspected or confirmed snakebite case, as well as related deaths, to the appropriate public health authorities without delay, stated an official spokesperson. The mandatory reporting system is designed to strengthen surveillance, track snakebite incidents, and identify high-risk areas. The data collected will support better deployment of critical resources such as anti-venom supplies and help determine factors contributing to fatalities. The authorities believe the initiative will significantly enhance response strategies and reduce preventable deaths from snakebite envenoming in the hill state.MSID:: 128945296 413 |
