Calangute: Just three days after Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and sarpanch Joseph Sequeira launched the hotmixing of the Chogm road from police station to St Alex church, the stretch was once again dug up. The work on building a culvert across this busy road has left the commuters and activists furious.“This is shocking and typical of the unplanned development that is going on in the state under BJP govt. How can they dig a road three days after it was hotmixed? This is a complete waste of public money,” Calangute Congress block committee president Lourenco Silveira said.“People are unable to believe that a road has been dug up again for building a culvert. There is absolutely no planning,” said Calangute AAP convener Manuel Cardozo. The sarpanch said that there was a Portuguese era culvert at the spot which was overlooked. “When the hotmixing was going on, the road there collapsed and that was when we found out that there was a culvert there. As the road has collapsed, it was decided by the PWD to repair the culvert,” he said. The stretch was closed for around a year, first for laying a pipeline, then repaired and dug again multiple times.
