Surat: Katargam police have booked history-sheeter Chirag Goti and his aide Yuvraj Jadav for alleged extortion, criminal intimidation and issuing threats at gunpoint, following a complaint by a city-based businessman.Police said complainant Prabhat Vyas alleged that in Oct 2021, Goti called him and demanded Rs 50 lakh for releasing four plots of land. Vyas told police that he had already made payment for the plots to one Hitesh Makwana. However, Goti allegedly claimed that his associates had taken possession of the plots and would release them only after receiving the money.According to the complaint, Vyas later met Goti at an office in Katargam, where Goti and Jadav allegedly repeated the demand. During the meeting, Goti reportedly showed a revolver and threatened Vyas. Following intervention by others present, Vyas allegedly agreed to pay Rs 42 lakh.Police said that after receiving the money, Goti released the four plots and asked Vyas to coordinate with Jadav. When contacted, Jadav allegedly demanded 7.41-carat diamonds worth Rs 4.81 lakh, threatened and assaulted Vyas, and took the diamonds before completing the transfer of the plots.An FIR has been registered against Goti and Jadav under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Earlier, Chowk Bazar police station had also registered an FIR against Goti and six others in a separate extortion and abduction case.
