Bengaluru: A collision between a car and a container truck on a national highway near Hoskote triggered a dramatic blaze early Sunday, leaving both vehicles gutted and two persons injured.The incident occurred around 2am near Halasahalli village in Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district. According to police, a Maruti Swift Dzire heading towards Kolar rammed into a container truck that was taking a U-turn. The car was reportedly overspeeding, and the driver failed to control it, hitting the truck near its fuel tank.The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught fire almost instantly and were engulfed in flames within moments.Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as the vehicles burned intensely. The container truck was completely charred, and the goods it was carrying — including napkins, detergents, and other items — were reduced to ashes.Fire and emergency services personnel, along with police and local residents, rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the car’s occupants in the early stages of the fire, averting a major tragedy.The injured, identified as Manjunath, 45, and Gopi, 48 were shifted to a private hospital in Hoskote and are out of danger. Three other occupants of the car escaped unhurt. The truck driver also survived, having managed to get out immediately after the collision.A senior officer said three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. The incident caused a traffic jam for nearly three hours. The charred vehicles were later removed using cranes. Hoskote traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.
