Kanpur: The Mazdoor Union organised a health awareness seminar on arthritis to promote timely diagnosis and treatment among labourers and employees. Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Nadeem Farooqi (MBBS, MS Ortho, MCh Ortho, UK) from a city hospital, the keynote speaker, shared detailed information on arthritis (gathiya).A large number of union office-bearers, members and employees attended the event.Dr. Farooqi said regular exercise, a balanced diet, maintaining proper weight and periodic health check-ups were effective measures for preventing arthritis. He also provided information about modern medical methods and treatment options such as medications, physiotherapy and surgery when necessary. Union president Alok Singh said that the health of workers was the organisation’s topmost priority . General Secretary Chandra Bhan Yadav said the union would continue to organise such programmes in the interest of workers in the future as well.At the end of the seminar, a question-and-answer session .
