Madhepura: Police recovered the headless body of a woman in Madhukarchak village under the Behariganj police station area in Madhepura district on Sunday morning. The victim was identified as Rinku Devi, 45, a resident of Balia in Purnia district.Subham Kumar, the victim’s son, said his mother had left home for her maternal village on Feb 3 but went missing on the way. He said he and other family members made extensive efforts to trace her but were unsuccessful. Information regarding her disappearance was lodged with the local police station.
Subham alleged the involvement of his cousin Niwas Singh in the incident, saying that there had been a dispute between his uncle Kamlesh Singh, Niwas Singh and his mother two months ago, which had led to a scuffle.Balia SHO Ramlal Bharti said police had already arrested Niwas in connection with an ATM fraud case on Feb 16. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to his involvement in the murder and to dumping the body at the location from where it was recovered. “During the course of interrogation by police, Niwas confessed to his involvement in murder and dumping the body on the spot. On his instruction, police recovered torso from the spot,” the SHO said.
