Jamshedpur: A head clerk in the land acquisition department was arrested in Seraikela while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh on Monday. The accused Pritam Acharya, who was posted at the office of Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR), was arrested by a team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).Indradev Ram, the deputy SP of ACB, claimed Acharya had sought Rs 40 lakh bribe from Gurcharan Singh Sardar for settling a land compensation case and submitting a report in favour of the latter. Following the complaint, the ACB detained a broker from Gamharia and took him along with the complainant to the district collectorate in Seraikela, where Acharya worked. Acharaya was allegedly accepting Rs 5 lakh as first instalment of bribe from the complainant when ACB sleuths raided the spot and caught him. Both the accused are being interrogated by ACB officials at the divisional office in Sonari Jamshedpur.
